Last updated: 29 June 2026. MakiMode is a focus tool: a small desk device, plus a Shopify store and free apps for Mac and iPhone (and an optional browser extension) that block distracting apps and websites while you focus. We collect as little as possible. Here's exactly what happens.
When you buy from us

Order details — your name, email, shipping address and what you ordered, so we can ship it and support you. Our store runs on Shopify, which processes this on our behalf.

Payment — handled by Mollie (and the payment method you choose, e.g. iDEAL, card, PayPal). We never see or store your full card details.
When you use the apps

Your email & account — to sign in and sync your focus across your Mac, iPhone and device. Sign-in runs on Supabase; you can also use "Sign in with Google."

Your settings & focus state — the sites/apps you choose to block, display settings, and whether focus is on, stored against your account so all devices stay in sync.

A push token (iPhone) — so the app can be woken to apply blocking. It can't identify you and is used only to deliver these silent notifications via Apple.

Stays on your device: on iPhone, the specific apps you pick are chosen through Apple's Screen Time and kept on your device as opaque tokens — they are never sent to us.
Cookies & advertising
On our store we use cookies for essential checkout functionality and, where you consent, analytics and advertising pixels from Meta and Google to measure and improve our ads. In regions that require it (e.g. the EU/UK) we ask for your consent first, and you can decline. If you join our email list, we use Klaviyo to send updates you can unsubscribe from anytime.
Who processes your data
Shopify (store & checkout), Mollie (payments), Supabase (app accounts), Apple (push notifications), Google (sign-in, site icons, ads), Meta (ads), and Klaviyo (email). We never sell your data or use it for anything beyond running and improving MakiMode.
What we don't do
- No selling or sharing of your personal data.
- No collection of your browsing history — blocking only checks whether the current page or app matches your own list; it doesn't record or transmit what you visit.
Your choices & deletion
You can sign out anytime, and unsubscribe from emails with one click. To delete your account and associated data, email privacy@makimode.com and we'll remove it.
